How It Works

At Rainy River Homestead, almost everything we make can be customized or personalized to fit exactly what you’re looking for. Whether you want different colours, custom engraving, names added, a special message, or small design changes, we’re happy to work with you to create something unique.

Because each piece is made to order, we don’t keep shelves full of pre-made inventory. Every order is individually crafted right here in northwestern Ontario using real wood, layered designs, engraving, wood dyes, and clear finishes.

After You Place Your Order

Within 24 hours of placing your order, we’ll reach out to you by email to discuss any customization options or special requests you may have. This is your chance to ask for changes such as:

  • Custom names or wording
  • Different stain or dye colours
  • Personalized engravings
  • Small design adjustments
  • Gift requests or special notes

If no customization is requested, we’ll simply move ahead with making your order as shown in the listing.

Please keep an eye on your inbox and check your junk/spam folder as well, as our emails occasionally end up there. If we contact you regarding customization and do not receive a response within 2 business days, we will proceed with your order as shown in the listing (or using the information provided at checkout) to avoid delays in production and shipping.

 

Production & Shipping Times

Since everything is handmade and made to order, production times can vary depending on our current workload and the complexity of the project.

Please expect:

  • Standard made-to-order items: approximately 7–14 days before shipping
  • Fully customized or personalized pieces: up to 14 days before shipping

We take the time to make sure every piece is properly cut, assembled, finished, and packaged before it leaves the shop.

Handmade Means Every Piece Is Unique

Wood naturally varies in grain, texture, and colour, which means no two pieces will ever be exactly identical. That’s part of what makes handmade items special. Small variations are normal and help give each piece its own character.
